MONDAY
Listen to "Elephant" by Camille Saint Saens using the following link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5UNpU8HHtU
Watch the video. Do you recognize any of the instruments? (The piano and the double bass).
Think about how an elephant would move to the music. Listen again and move like you think an elephant would move as you listen! Will you stomp your feet, tiptoe, crawl, jump, or something else?
Now listen to "The Swan" also by Camille Saint Saens. Use the following link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDUKcv2wEy0
Would a swan's movement look the same or different than an elephant's movement? Would swans stomp, glide, twirl, fly, tiptoe, or crawl? Show your parents how you would move like a swan to the music!
I hope you have fun moving!!
TUESDAY
Teach your family how to play Mr. Drum! Take a kitchen item like a spatula or wooden spoon. Then find a bowl or other item that could be your drum. Make sure it is plastic or metal and not glass or something that could break! Play the beat on the drum and have your family move to it. Remember to make the beat faster and slower and louder and softer! When the beat stops, your family has to freeze! If you and your drum catch them moving, you and the drum get the point! If everyone freezes, they get the point! You can switch with different family members so that they are playing the drum and you get to move as well!
WEDNESDAY
Use the link below to sing "I am a Pizza" with Ms. Lapp and a surprise guest! You can have your family sing along with you if you want to!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrI5cj_1wHM
You can do a movement break with your family! Follow the link below to do "Move and Freeze" from the Learning Station. If you do not have a partner to do one of the moves with you, it is fine to do the movement by yourself too!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=388Q44ReOWE
THURSDAY
THE TRIANGLE GAME
Time to dance! Invite your family to join you!
Create a taped triangle on the floor (each side needs to be about 1 meter or an arm span long).
Place a piece of paper or coloured tape on one corner of the triangle. This place is for "the boss".
Start the music and copy all of the the boss' dance moves. After about 10 seconds, call "switch" and move around the triangle to allow a new person to be the boss.
Choose your favourite dance music to dance to!
